This handbook outlines the basic rules, policies and guidelines by which each student is expected to conduct themselves. The Marcus Garvey Technical High School Student/Parent handbook was written to provide an insight into those policies, principles and best practices that we deem to be important for the effective running of our school. This handbook is to serve as a guide to new and current students; providing information to the way of life of this institution. This handbook provides also tips to the students and parents on how to make you and your child’s educational sojourn at Marcus Garvey Technical High School successful. This handbook addresses the expected student and parent behaviours, outlines the general activities that comprise our school programmes, and outlines the general strategies that we use to address maladaptive behaviours. The handbook was created within the parameters of the Ministry of Education’s policies on discipline, safety and security and school governance; for students past and present, parents and other stakeholders of the Marcus Garvey Technical High School; please be guided accordingly.

This handbook was prepared and published by Safety and Security Committee, under the guidance of the office of the Dean of Discipline of the Marcus Garvey Technical High School in accordance with the Ministry of Education’s guidelines.
