Graduation Requirements
The School Leaving Ceremony is an annual function hosted by the school. All Fifth and Sixth form students can participate; however, this is a privilege and NOT A RIGHT.
To graduate, all students MUST fulfil the stated criteria to be a part of the ceremony:
- Have a minimum of 80% in attendance and punctuality.
- Submit ALL SBAs as required
- Sit an external examination in English A, and Mathematics at Marcus Garvey Technical High School
- Complete 50 hours of community service within the last 2 years
- Complete the work experience or work study programme
- Must not earn an out of school suspension during the last 2 years
- Have a satisfactory conduct and deportment record
- Possess a good work attitude, evidenced by submitting projects, homework and ALL class projects
- Have a satisfactory attitude towards, and respect for authority
- Sit all examinations in his/her course of study in the End of Year Examinations and the Mock Examinations
- Return ALL Textbooks in acceptable standard or make payment for restoration or replacement
- Pay ALL outstanding fees
- Active participation in at least one of the Clubs & Societies or Sports, especially within the 2 years prior to graduating
Categories of School Leaving Certificates
STUDENTS WILL BE GRADUATED AS PER THE FOLLOWING:

0-49 | Attendance Certificate | – |
The academic criteria are based on the students’ performance. The behavioural conduct will be decided by the Graduation/School leaving Committee in collaboration with the office of the Dean of Discipline. Students whose average exam score is less than 40% will receive only a school leaving certificate.
